Maybe I'm a little late to the game, but have you seen this show, "Good Eats" on the Food Network?
It combines two of my favorite things, Science and food.
Okay, so maybe Science isn't one of my favorite things, but it should be. And, yeah, food really is, although it probably shouldn't be, but it all evens out. Oh, and throw some history on the food in there too.
Here's the deal, Alton Brown will spend a half hour telling you about some food product, maybe chicken, maybe salt, maybe ice cream, and it will be fun to watch. He'll also cook some stuff up. I could take or leave that, but the things I learn about the food are destined to come in handy when I'm trying to impress someone at the dinner table.
In summation, want to be impressed? Take me out to dinner!

Where in DC hasn't history been made?
Yesterday, for the 4th of July, I went out into the City, and spent a lot of time just walking around between stops for barbecues, fireworks, and bars. At one point I was walking by this hotel, and made the offhand comment that it looked like the Watergate office building. While I was saying this I thought, "I'm in Washington, DC, and this actually could be the Watergate." The friend I was with said no, that it wasn't. In an afterthought he told me that it was actually the hotel Reagan was shot at. Works for me!
