TV Party

One of the life changing perks that is waiting for me in DC is cable television. Not that this is life changing in and of itself, but there are two shows that I'm excited about being able to watch.

This American Life on Showtime. I have over 300 hours of This American Life on my iPod, so you might say I'm into it.
Everyone loves a Jewish boy and I'm not exception, so here's Ira Glass:

Maybe even slightly more exciting in an entirely different way is a new show on Court TV, Til Death Do Us Part. From what I understand, it's hosted by John Waters in an Alfred Hitchcock Presents kind of way, and he's known as the Groom Reaper. They take a real life murder that happened between a married couple, dramatizing their wedding right up to the murder, and you don't know until the end who actually ended up killing who.

I'm not sure how much time I'll get to actually watch any TV once I move, but along with Heroes, I'm going to try to make sure and catch these, and Law and Order rerun after precious rerun.

Bad management decision

I know I'm making a big deal about moving, but that's actually not happening for another two weeks. Until then, I'm still at my job.

There's been a problem with communication in my office. There's four of us in here and part of our job is being aware of what's going on with the other three to get the job done. That's as much detail as I'm going to give about it because it's boring enough as it is.

So, one of us is in her own world and causes all kinds of problems because she doesn't listen and she doesn't communicate. One of my other co-workers/team members contacted management about this, so we had a "Team Building Seminar" with my boss and someone from HR.

This was the solution they came up with:

Yeah, they gave each of us a Beanie Baby and said that if "someone" isn't paying attention, throw a Beanie Baby at them to get their attention.

What kind of a solution is that?

Anyway, I got a pelican named Scoop.

By way of Michigan

After leaving Minneapolis, my home for the past 5 years, I'll be heading to Michigan, my home for the 25 years before that. I haven't been back to Michigan in a while, so I'm spending a week there before moving to DC.

Here's a list of some of the things I hope to do when I'm in Michigan.

1. Get my car fixed

2. Then drive around and take my mind off of things

3. See some old friends

4. Visit the dentist

5. Work off some of that Minnesota winter weight

6. Go to the zoo

7. Play some video games

8. Then drive 10 hours East to the land of politicians

Party like it's my last night in Minneapolis

My going away party was last Saturday. It was a complete "sausage party," as they say, so let's hope there are some cool girls worth befriending in DC to even things out the next time I do this.
I also got my hair cut and a new dress. Six new dresses, actually, but I only wore one at the party because this wasn't My Super Sweet 16 or anything. Just moving to DC from Minneapolis, that's all, nothing big like turning 16.
Here's me just before the party:

If only I'd thought to have a photo taken of me looking like that with my laptop in front of me, I could have used it as my "official" blogging photo. Because, you know, that's how I always look when I blog.
